Mariluz is a poor little bitch who was probably owned by a hunter before being abandoned. And probably the only contact she had had with humans, up till now, was to get beaten up.

She was found on a motorway, near a village in El Bierzo. Cars and even lorries were swerving to avoid her, it is a miracle she wasn't run over... she is a little thing, only 7 kilos...Well, she must weigh a little more now, after a few days of regular meals... she was skinny, and she didn't want to leave the middle of that road because she was licking some dry blood from the asphalt. Sad, isn't it? That old blood surely had been spilled by another dog run over on the same spot before... and the poor Mariluz was trying to survive on it.

It was difficult to catch her, at first . She was terrified. But once inside the car, she remained very still, probably appreciating the warmth: the temperature outside was only 1 or 2 degrees, and the night had been colder.

The first day she ate as if she hadn't eaten in years! It is amazing that so much food could fit into such tiny body....and she was very frightened. Now she is still afraid of humans, but she is good, she keeps still and lets herself be held and stroked. It won't take her long to learn about love and tenderness. She gets on perfectly well with other dogs. She is lame, one of her hinder legs was at some point in her life hit hard and obviously the injury was never treated. We are going to have her leg operated next week.

She is about 5 years old , beautiful, and sweet, but up till now, her life has been very hard. She deserves her luck to change....
